Senior Manager / Sales / Trading – North America

Job Summary:


The Senior Manager of Sales and Trading is responsible for planning and executing trading strategies that maximize sales volume and margin growth for targeted customers/clients within Sumitomo. This is an amazing opportunity for candidates who are experienced in protein trading. The incumbent acts within the scope of the corporate mission statement and policy adherence to accomplish and deliver sales goals established by the Director of Sales and Marketing. Knowledge of meat products and an established network of protein suppliers and customers in the protein trading industry will ensure your success. The Senior Manager will implement strategic trading plans, including forecasting activities and procurement, and review market analysis to determine customer needs, price schedules, and discount rates. The Senior Manager interacts with business management and supply planning teams and is financially responsible for maintaining and growing the business. The Senior Manager controls all elements of the sales/trading process within the region, from sales presentations and forecasting to customer business reviews.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Win new business accounts through trade and expand market penetration for assigned channel.
  • Proactively identify and source protein products from suppliers to meet client demand.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms.
  • Fiscal accountability to work within the assigned budget.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Sales and Marketing in the development of annual sales plan budget; implements tactical planning as related to the strategic growth plans and objectives of the sales channel
  • Provides reports as directed, which include monthly business and project status updates, sales activity and volume reports, forecasts, and pricing analysis reports
  • Analyze changes in market dynamics and use data to adapt strategies as necessary to achieve increased sales volume and margin growth
  • Acts as a technical representative to the customer – providing training, creating sales presentations, and providing solutions to the business issues facing the customer
  • Establish and maintain productive long-term relationships with both internal and external decision-makers within all functions and levels for key customers/clients
  • Achievement of top-line growth while maintaining profitability initiatives and objectives as derived by the Leadership Team

Education, Certification, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university or 5+ years’ relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Meat (protein) trading experience, required
  • Demonstrated sales planning, forecasting, and sales execution experience required
  • Proven track record in purchasing and sales within the meat industry.
  • Understanding of product cuttings – comfort and knowledge of product attributes.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Travel up to 30% of the time, both domestic and internationally.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • No visa sponsorship/support provided.
