Job Summary:

The Sr. Manager is responsible for business development efforts, project management and account management in Freight rail markets, as well as supporting other passenger rail and APM (Automated People Mover) related matters. Frequent and effective communication with SCOA colleagues, SC Tokyo, and other internal and external partners, as well as handling tasks with sense of urgency, are essential for success.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop investment strategies / opportunities in North American freight rail market, in collaboration with SCOA / SC Tokyo colleagues, especially within Social Infrastructure Division (which includes Logistics Group and Infrastructure Metal Products Group).
  • Manage an existing freight rail investment. Monitoring performance of that company, such as receiving/reviewing financial/operational documents, keeping and even enhancing relationship with that company and relevant stakeholders, and sharing information with relevant SCOA internal and SC Tokyo colleagues.
  • Create synergies and collaborations between the freight rail businesses and various SCOA rail cargo related departments / other departments. 
  • Support Passenger Rail and APM business related matters; other duties as assigned.

 

Job Specific Knowledge/Skills & Abilities

Required

  • In-depth knowledge of, extensive network of and experience in North American freight rail and related industries.
  • Business development experience.
  • Knowledge of North American Rail industry standards: DOT/FRA/AAR/EPA/PHMSA etc.
  • High level communication and negotiation skills. Ability to shape the successful resolution of contractual

 

Preferred

  • Knowledge of finance solutions applicable to North American rail industry.
  • Demonstrated financial analysis, business and strategic planning skills.
  • Project management skills to facilitate the management of multiple assignments of variable duration.
  • Understanding Japanese language and culture

 

Education, Certification and Experience

Required

  • Bachelors' degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Hybrid work style (Minimum 2 days in the office/week).
